Lisduggan artist wins award

Anthony Mackey from Lisduggan has won the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) and Limerick City Gallery of Art, Open Drawing Awards. This is a prestigious award for Anthony who is still a student at LSAD and comes on the back of his success in 2007 when he was awarded the Ted and Mary O’Regan Arts Bursary in recognition of his talent and achievements to date.

This latest award was the National Drawing Collection Award, which also means that the drawing was acquired for the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing which is part of LCGA’s permanent collection. more »

Mural Art – Youth take on the Graffiti

Starting early in early May members of Waterford Youth Arts with professional artists and help from Waterford Civic Trust are embarking on a novel project which aims to counter the vandalism of mindless graffiti on our city’s buildings. The project will see teenagers working closely with professional artists to come-up with suggestions for murals and for these murals to get mounted on various walls around the city.

Supported by the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund through Waterford City Council’s Environment Services Section the murals will brighten the City and hopefully spread a positive message about how we want our city to be seen....more »

Four Waterford students awarded BOI scholarships

Bank of Ireland has announced the awarding of 87 new scholarships for third level education. Valued at over €1m, these scholarships allow students who face economic, social or physical barriers an opportunity to access third-level education.
